What does the North Shore look like in stitches? In this three-day workshop, we’ll explore how to turn the natural beauty of the Great Lakes—pine trees, waves, stones, and maybe a bird or two—into simple stranded colorwork motifs. Students will learn to chart your own designs on graph paper and knit them into a hat.

This is a design-forward class for adventurous knitters. Students should be comfortable knitting and purling in the round and reading basic charts. We’ll focus on color dominance, float management, tension, and how to translate visual inspiration into knitted motifs.

Students will leave with a custom project underway and a deeper connection between your knitting and your landscape. This isn’t about perfection or speed—it’s about creative play, personal expression, and learning to see the North Shore in wool.

Materials fee: $45–$55 (final cost depends on supplier pricing) due to instructor in class.
